AMD Puts The Kibosh On The ATI Brand For Good

It’s over… Done… Finito, and official. AMD has decided not to use the ATI brand name any longer. To all the PC gamers who truly loved the GPU graphic battles between the red team and the green team(ATI vs NVIDIA), the battle has finally come to an end.

This entire idea was made by AMD’s move to Fusion APUs — hybrid CPU and GPU chips — where it’s considered beneficial to have a unified branding strategy. For those that are in nerve status for the long awaited ATI Eyefinity, don’t worry, it’s still coming, just showing off it’s new name under AMD Eyefinity. Seems to me that AMD is taking a bold move, even though I am a huge fan of diversion and expansion, change is good.

The ATI murderers, uh, I mean removers are making a choice that could make them more of a profit. When you think about it some times company’s just have to move on and do different things that will bring higher growth to there profit, and establish a new relationship with others in the GPU graphic market district. Product line names will be retained, with the Radeon and FirePro branding still intact though. In all fairness I am very sorry to see ATI disappear, but am expecting great things from the people at AMD who in my opinion do great things.
